Terms and conditions

  1. I.                     General Clause


Except for any special provisions stated in the special terms and conditions contractually agreed with clients or partners, the hosting of cruises as well as any associated services - primarily dining and events - are subject to the provisions of these terms and conditions that shall prevail over all other terms and conditions, which may not be enforceable upon “Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches®”. Any reservation made or service purchased implies full acceptance of these terms and conditions of sale.

  1. II.                   Reservations and Cancellations


For dining-cruises, booking is essential (except for changes depending on availability) and can be made by email, online, by fax, telephone or in person.

Tickets will be sent by email. If the client expressly requests to receive their tickets by post, handling and postal charges will be charged additionally.

For boat tours, the reservation codes required for collecting tickets at the automatic machines or at the Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches kiosk on the pier, will be sent by email, telephone or fax.

-          Individual Dining-Cruises (up to 15 people):


Unless otherwise agreed, reservations only become final upon receipt of pre-payment for 100% of the amount of services ordered.

Additional passengers may be admitted depending on spaces available. Vouchers (or coupons) will only be accepted if they are issued by an intermediary approved by “Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches®”.

For private clients, any unkept reservations, unless cancelled with 72 hours prior notice, will be charged in full by “Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches®”.

If the event is cancelled between 72 hours and 24 hours in advance, the date of the event may be changed and postponed for up to 6 months subject to the availability of Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches and under no more favourable terms than those initially agreed.

“Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches®” reserves the right to sell the places affected by the unkept reservation to other clients.

-          Group Dining-Cruises (over 15 people):


The exact number of passengers must be advised no later than 3 working days before the cruise date, and cannot be reduced by more than 10%, with reimbursement of the difference, with respect to the minimum number of passengers required for private hire of our boats.

Any increase in the initially agreed numbers shall be submitted for approval.

Reservations made 30 working days before the event shall be granted a 7 working-day option; 50% of the total amount must be paid as a deposit by the end of this 7 day period. Deposits will be forfeited in full in the case of cancellation.

Reservations made less than 30 working days before the event shall be granted a 3 working-day option; 50% of the total amount must be paid as a deposit by the end of this 3 day period. Deposits will be forfeited in full in the case of cancellation.

For reservations made less than 15 working days before the event, 50% of the total amount must be paid immediately as a deposit, which shall be forfeited in full in the case of cancellation.

The remaining balance due on the dining cruises must be paid 7 working days before the event, cancellations after this time will not be accepted.

For groups of more than 15 people, the client shall choose a fixed, unique menu no later than 7 days before the event. After that time, the Chef will decide on the unique menu to be provided.

Under special circumstances, for particular occasions such as February 14th, Mother’s Day, July 14th and December 31st, specific reservation deadlines may apply.

For this type of special event, individual or group reservations will be subject to immediate payment in full and tickets may not be refunded or exchanged.


  1. III.                 Prices, Invoicing & Payments


Unless agreed otherwise at the time of reservation, the pricing conditions applicable shall be those in force on the date the event takes place. Prices are revised on the 1st April every year.

Deferred invoicing is subject to the express, prior agreement of “Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches®”. In this case, each invoice must be paid by cheque or bank transfer on receipt of invoice, or no later than 15 working days after the invoicing date. Any delays in payment shall automatically incur interest calculated on the basis of the amount excl. taxes due, at a rate of one and a half times the legal interest rate in accordance with the French law 92-1442. This interest for delayed payment shall be applied starting from the day after the due date of the primary amount and shall continue until payment has been received in full. No discounts shall be given for cash payments.

On special occasions such as those indicated above, special prices and menus shall be provided, both for individual and group clients.

  1. IV.                 Cruise Rules


1)       Obligations of the “Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches®”:

Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches will do their utmost to ensure that the cruise takes place under the conditions agreed at the time of booking. Under no circumstances shall “Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches®” be held responsible or liable for any compensation or refunds in the case of modifications to the times or duration of cruises due to an event of force majeure or “water conditions” or due to any instructions given by the shipping authorities or in the event of a change in boat. If required, itineraries may be modified without prior notice.

The river tour tariff is based on the price of the cruise only. Commentaries are free and for information only.

2)       Obligations of clients-passengers:

- The passenger or complete group of passengers should attend the Bateaux-Mouches point of embarkation no later than 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time. If the passenger or group of passengers arrive after the boat has departed, they will not be entitled to any reimbursement or compensation.

For private cruises, “Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches ®” reserves the right to reduce the duration of the cruise by an amount of time equal to the client’s delay in boarding with consequent impacts on the related services.

- As soon as they are invited to board the boat, each passenger must immediately and strictly comply with all instructions given by the on-board team in the interest of navigational safety and order on board. Passengers may only board at the time stipulated in the contract.

- No animals or items that could be dangerous to other passengers or personnel will be allowed on board.

- “Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches®” does not accept any responsibility for any theft or damage caused to clothing, hand luggage, personal belongings (cameras, mobile phones etc...) belonging to clients when on the pier, on the boat or left in any vehicles parked in the car park.

- “Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches®” reserves the right to invoice the client for any material damage caused on-board by them or by a member of their group.

- Correct attire will be required for dining cruises. “Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches®” reserves the right to refuse admittance to any person who does not observe this rule.

- It is forbidden for any unauthorised person to enter the engine area, the cockpit and the kitchens without special permission.

External artistic entertainment

Entertainment is organised by “Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches®”. By derogation, if the client wishes to organise this part of the service themselves, they undertake to provide the company with the following documentation: quote or invoice of the service provider or advance notification of employment of the artists, a valid civil liability insurance certificate (or CL policy of the service provider). If these documents are not provided by 2 working days before the event, the service provider or artists will be denied access on-board the boat that has been scheduled to hold the event.

Service providers are not authorised to use the sound and lighting equipment or any instruments belonging to Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches.

  1. V.                   Liability Insurance:


No person shall be entitled to any compensation unless they are in possession of a transport document (ticket, boarding card) issued by “Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches”.

Cruises are subject to the rules of river navigation; “Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches ®” reserves the right to determine the ability to navigate on the river or not. Cruises may be cancelled or modified at any time after the time of reservation including on the day scheduled for departure under application of the aforementioned rules, or in the case of bad weather that could endanger the safety of the people on board. “Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches®” shall not be held liable for the consequences of any passenger who fails to observe these Terms and Conditions and the general and specific legal regulations in force, without prejudice to any damages and interests that it may claim due to any damages suffered as a result of this inobservation.

“Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches®” shall not be held liable for any damage to passengers during the cruise, due to any of the following causes: flash floods, storms, collision with another vessel, that is fully or partially responsible for the accident nor for any other unforseen events.

“Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches®” declines all responsibility for the loss or falling overboard of objects or for damage caused to clients’ clothing, hand-luggage or personal belongings.

  1. VI.                 Applicable law – Jurisdiction:


Any disputes or litigation arising from the interpretation of these general terms and conditions and / or the performance of services shall be governed exclusively by French law.

Only the Court of Appeals in Paris shall have the competency to settle any such disputes or litigations, unless Compagnie des Bateaux Mouches decides otherwise.
